USURPER To Enter Studio In June

January 28, 2004

Chicago death/thrash lords USURPER are tentatively scheduled to enter the studio in June to begin recording their fifth full-length album, due late 2004/early 2005 through Earache Records. The studio and producer are still being determined, according to a post on the band's web site. New songtitles include "The Bones Of My Enemies", "Supernatural Killing Spree", and "Kill For Metal".

In a recent interview with Haunted Gates, USURPER guitarist Rick Scythe talked about the songwriting process for the group's new album.

"I will continue to write most of the music with [drummer Joe 'Apocalyptic' Warlord] helping with some arrangements and cool ideas too," he said. "As for lyrics, right now I am writing most of them as I have done in the past. Topics such as: The paranormal, werewolves, hauntings, UFOs, cryptozoology, modern demonology, ancient civilizations, and of course Metal anthems and Necrohymns about our lifestyle will always be trademarks of USURPER, but I also want to give [new singer] Danny [Lawson] an opportunity to voice his thoughts on these topics as well. Even if I write all the music and lyrics for an entire song, (as always) when the whole band learns them they become part of them and inspire each member to put his all, to put his personal twist and feel to the song. So that the end result sounds much more interesting than the original demo version."
